Marti Peran is a well-known curator and art critic in Spain, and a faculty member of the University of Barcelona. An active and engaged contributor to the art scene at both local and international levels, he is particularly interested in contemporary urban issues. He has collaborated on many contemporary art books and catalogues and some of his recent projects include See how they move. Four ideas about mobility (Fundacion Telefonica Madrid, 2005) and the exhibition Glaskultur. What happened with the transparence idea? (Koldo Mitxelena, San Sebastian, 2006). He is currently working on Occasional cities. Post-it city and others forms of temporality, an archive of ephemeral cities around the world that will be shown at CCCB (Barcelona) in 2007. He is also the director of the Roundabout Program, an exchange program between Barcelona and other cities like Santiago de Chile, Bogota, Jerusalem, Reykjavik, Bangkok and more.
Peran came to Jerusalem in January of 2005 to initiate the JCVA's exchange program between Barcelona and Israel. He was most excited to come to Israel and discover the local art scene. Of the 15 artists he met he chose two - Doron Rabina and Koby Levy - to be included in the joint exhibition that will be held both in La Capella in Barcelona and in the Artists' Studios gallery in Tel-Aviv. Nirith Nelson, director of the JCVA, consequently traveled to Barcelona, where she met with 30 artists and chose two for the exchange - Domenec and Daniel Chust.
